The Asian Beach Games is a multi-sport event to be held every two years among athletes representing countries from Asia. The games are regulated by the Olympic Council of Asia. The first games will be held in 2008 in Bali, Indonesia from October 18, 2008 to October 26, 2008. The opening ceremony will be held in Garuda Wisnu Kencana.
This Games will be composed of sports with strong television appeal such as windsurfing, kite boarding, swimming, beach volleyball, beach handball, beach soccer, and dragon boat racing.
45 Countries and Regions whose member of Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) will be participating in this event.
The official mascot of the 1st Asian Beach Games is Bali Starling (Leucopsar Rothschildi), locally known as “Jalak Bali”, as well as the official mascot of Bali and a bird species endemic to this Island.
